Knott's Berry Farm Take Home Thanksgiving Dinner Review

We are a turkey loving family so when we were asked to review Knott's Berry Farm's Take Home Thanksgiving Dinner a couple weeks before Thanksgiving, we were like YES!!!  We can definitely do turkey a few times this year.  My in-laws and my family are in Texas so Thanksgiving Dinner for us is very low-key.  I do the cooking, we don't dress up and all of the boys lounge around all day because Chris usually has to go in to work late Thanksgiving night.

Knott's Berry Farm Take Home Thanksgiving Dinner is a great option for everyone.  You place your order by phone and pick up before or on Thanksgiving Day.  Pick up is easy - you pull up in the designated area during your time slot and your box is loaded into your car.  Easy, right?!?!

We got home and couldn't wait to dig in.  We're happy to say everything was good.  I know, how can we just say "everything was good"?!  Oh but it was - SO GOOD.  My picky 6 year old asked for mashed potatoes, corn, roll and turkey TWICE.  My husband had two servings!  And he teased that he needed a straw for the gravy.  I think he was serious though because after he said it, I wanted a straw too.  Now I'm not a fan of pickles.  I almost always order food without pickles but I couldn't keep away from the bread and butter pickles.  I really loved the candied yams too.  My husband's favorite is the country apple stuffing.  The turkey?  YUMMY!  We had it for 3 meals in 24 hours!

Preview Target's Black Friday Ad Now

I can't believe Thanksgiving is already next week.  I love Black Friday, getting the paper on Thanksgiving and going through the ads was a tradition that started with my mom when I was younger.  Last year was a Black Friday for Chris and Duke, we made out like bandits because we planned and strategized.  I doubt we're going to do it this year because of Omar.

Yummy Food Made With Country Crock!

Jalapeno Cornbread Dressing

I love cooking during the Holidays when the weather is better and I can just hang out in the kitchen.    One popular request from coworkers for potlucks is my Jalapeno Cornbread Dressing.  I came up with this copycat semi-homemade recipe after having it at a soul food restaurant in 2007 and it's been at our Thanksgiving Dinner every year since.  This dish definitely ranks up there as one of my favorite dishes to eat and make.  It adds a little spice to your Thanksgiving Dinner!Jalapeno Cornbread Dressing
Jalapeno Cornbread Dressing Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup Cilantro
  • 1 tsp. Salt
  • 1 tsp. Black Pepper
  • 1-1 1/2 cups Chicken Broth

  • Make Cornbread the day before
  • Melt 4 tablespoons of Country Crock in skillet, add diced jalapenos with jalapeno juice and saute for 2-3 minutes on low

If you can tell, I'm a huge fan of semi-homemade recipes - My favorite is taking box mixes and making cookies.  Another popular request from coworkers is for me to make cake mix cookies or box brownie mix cookies.  They can make these on their own, it is so easy!  They are great for gifts too - You don't have to tell them your secret!  You can add candy, nuts, marshmallows, etc.
