Where Fall Fashion Lies #MacysFF13

I am over the moon that the lovely Marla of Marlita On The Run got to cover an event for me during an emergency (short story: I broke out in hives) - some things are meant to be and she is my favoritest guest blogger!

Disclosure:  Everywhere compensated me for covering this Macy’s event, but all thoughts and opinions expressed in this post are my own!

This past Saturday, myself along with all the hip and cute followers of Elle & Blair Fowler were lined up at the Beverly Center’s Macy's to see the fashion show they were hosting.

Missed it? - have no fear! I am here! - to share the highlights of the event.
Fall essentials were featured and below are my favorites.

The Military Jacket.

Here's the thing about it...it's not so much that it's a trend. It is a fall essential. Any girl can rock this look - no matter what your style...you're a pinup, a hipster, a band member, a hippie chick, whatever - it is a staple piece and works with a cutesy and frilly dress to even some leggings and beat-up boots. :)

Animal Prints.

I love this quirky take on animal prints. Now, we're not talking zebra striped pants or anything - not that's there's anything wrong with that...but, how cute are these items. A vest with all kinds of doggies on it...this sweet doll-like dress from Keds has weiner dog prints! eek! my favorite...and this cozy sweater with a fox on the front. I can't even handle all the cuteness. :)

So there you have it those were my favorite essentials featured during the show.

Oh! Also, Elle & Blair's new book "Where Beauty Lies" also made an appearance that day. A perfect read for the young fashionista. It's loosely based off of their own past and current experiences.

Have a great day babes!
And I'd love to know what your favorite fall essential is. :)

Fall Fashion with #CookiesKids

Fall is my favorite time of the year for clothes shopping, especially for the kids.  We just started experiencing cooler weather this past week in Southern California and I love every minute of it.  That's the signal for us to get started on Fall shopping!  My husband Chris and I are picky about clothes.  We always insist that family and friends not buy them clothes for Birthdays or Christmas.  That sounds harsh but the fact is, our kids love what we pick out for them and they love being able to pick out what they like too!  (We're not picky about brands - we're fans of style, quality and price)

The first time I heard about Cookie's Kids was seeing fellow bloggers tweet about the amazing prices and selection of clothes for kids.  I checked out the site and could not believe some of our favorite kids' brands were on there: Disney, LRG, Levi's, Guess, Carter's, Puma, Paul Frank, Hello Kitty...
Cookie's Kids has 7 stores in the NYC area - Brooklyn, Bronx, Jamaica and online at CookiesKids.com

I invited Chris to check out the site and put his top picks in the cart and we would agree on what to get Duke.  We almost always check out the Clearance section first.  I noticed the $5 flat rate shipping!  I decided to sign up for the Cookie's Kids newsletter because companies email discounts or specials every once in awhile and I love stretching my dollar.

Duke has a bunch of jeans, sneakers, t-shirts and hoodies.  Even though he's outgrowing most of his t-shirts, they still look good on him so the goal for this shopping trip was to buy a coat / jacket for Fall.

I did a Size search first and then Brand search for local Southern California brand LRG - This is what came up and I immediately fell in love with the LRG "Leo" Hoodie.

Chris found this jacket and we all fell in love with it.  It's the Sportier "Laughlin" Military Jacket and Duke ultimately decided this was the one jacket he wanted for Fall.  If you look where the Size menu is, you'll notice the Alva Kids app - The app is easy to use, it asked a few questions about your child (gender, age, etc.) and suggested I get a size 5 for Duke but I ordered a 7 because I figured he's 6 years old and I should get one year up so he could use it for next year too.

Here's a bigger shot of the jacket.  It is gorgeous and definitely one we've been wanting to get him forever but the prices were never right.  $24.99 is just right.

We looked at a lot of clothes on Cookie's Kids - You can see what other items we were eyeing and what we bought in our Google+ album!  Since Duke helped in shopping for his own clothes, he was so happy when the package arrived and it was labeled Cookie's Kids!

So, you are probably wondering where is the picture of my cutie pie in his new jacket, looking fashionable for Fall?  Well, I was wrong in ordering a size 7.  It was too big for him.  It was completely my fault!  The jacket is excellent quality and still can not believe that it was only $24.99 - When I contacted Cookie's Kids to request an exchange, they were wonderful!  We're so excited for the correct size because we're in love with this jacket!  (I will update this post with pictures of Duke in his jacket when we get the new size)

Update!  We got the correct size a few days later and it fit Duke perfect!  We love it, it is absolutely great quality and he looks so cute in it!
