Chris and I love surplus stores, mainly because of our fascination with gas masks. On one of our first dates we went to one in San Diego and got custom dog tags. We've been passing Oxman's Surplus for years and finally stopped in this month to check out their World War II Museum. I didn't have any expectations and then I saw how extensive the collection is... missiles, ejection seats, it was impressive. We spent a good hour there looking at everything. Duke loved it.
The most interesting things I saw were the dried Devil Fish that looked like aliens and the Propaganda Leaf that were dropped in Japan by the thousands. Definitely something to check out if you are local - it is FREE! There is also a Mess Tent Cafe that serves MREs.
