Review: The Classic Nursery Rhymes Collection

The Classic Nursery Rhymes Collection was originally released in 1982 and sold over a million copies.  The Classic Nursery Rhymes Collection features 72 traditional nursery rhymes and includes classic tales such as "Old MacDonald", "Pop Goes the Weasel" and "Mary Had A Little Lamb".

I'm all for introducing my sons to new things and was curious how they would react to a dvd that doesn't have flashy animations and other effects.  My 6 year old son Duke is really open-minded and has a good understanding of "the old days".  Especially since my Husband recently bought a VCR and the cashier at the thrift store called it "retro".  We explained what retro was and he's gung-ho about buying VHS tapes.

Now for the review:  Duke really paid attention to the dvd and sang along to the rhymes he did know.  The transitions were seamless and didn't miss a beat.  We both enjoyed the turning of the pop-up pages, illustrations, puppets and characters.  I think this dvd is great for kids and a very handy tool to teach lessons about time, music and culture - subjects that we're huge on in my home.  The Classic Nursery Rhymes Collection is timeless and enjoyable.  I found myself singing along!
